Bodegas Luis Cañas is a family-owned winery that dates back to 1928, although the family has been growing grapes and making wine for more than two centuries. Today, it is one of the leading wineries of Rioja Alavesa.
Luis Canas Red Young 2017
For the production of Luis Canas Red Young wine, they are still using the traditional system of Rioja Alavesa known as “carbonic maceration“. In this process the whole clusters pass through the fermentation tanks for a soft, fruity, full-bodied wine, with intense color, preferably intended for consumption in the first year.
Luis Canas White Barrel Fermented 2016
A beautifully balanced example of white Rioja that straddles the styles of the old and the new. Vibrant citrusy Viura is blended with the more weighty Malvasia and the brief barrel maturation adds a honeyed roundness to the crisp lemony fruit.
Luis Canas Crianza 2014
Luis Canas Rioja Crianza is a well-balanced ripe fruity Rioja with 12 months oak ageing adding complexity and a sweet vanilla finish. It has aromas of balsamic and fine nuances of plum and clean oak with intense spice and oak on layers of velvety cherry fruit and a slight hint of liquorice. Lasting rich fruit flavours with smooth round tannins. Complex and structured. A pleasant finish with red fruits and hints of eucalyptus.
Luis Canas Reserva 2011
Deep cherry red, clean and bright. Good aromatic intensity with notes of ripe red fruits over a base of elegant balsamic. In the mouth is tasty, mellow, fresh and with fine nuances of sweet fruit. It has volume and the tannins are well integrated and polished. In the aftertaste, touches of very ripe fruit and nuances of liquorice appear making it last in the palate.
Rolland & Galarreta Ribera Del Duero
Alluring aromas of cinnamon, spices, lavender, and black cherry lead to a smooth-textured, nicely balanced wine. It is rich, concentrated and fleshy and shows elegance and complexity. On the palate, it shows silky tannins, with a succulent structure and excellent depth. Enjoy it with Red meats, stews, game and cured cheeses.
Luis Canas Grande Reserve 2010
A deep powerful Gran Reserva from one of Rioja Alavesa’s most enduring family run wineries. The wine shows finesse, elegance and complexity with good concentration of black fruit, thyme and rosemary with secondary aromas of leather and tobacco leaves. In the palate it is polished and rounded, making it pleasant and easy to drink. Fleshy with both elegance and power. It has touches of black fruit jam and liquorice. A long, delicious and persistent finish.
